Setting students up for success in college, career, and beyond

Hi, I’m Katie Wittingen—college counselor, academic tutor, and SAT/ACT prep specialist. I love working with students in grades 6–12 to help them succeed academically and build meaningful, confident lives. Over the past seven years, I’ve guided hundreds of students through test prep and the college application process, supporting them in discovering who they are and what they want out of their education and future careers.

I’m passionate about helping young people connect their strengths, interests, and values to exciting college and career paths. In addition to college counseling, I enjoy tutoring students in math and have built a trusted team of expert tutors who provide support across a wide range of academic subjects.

My Story

I grew up in western Michigan with a love for helping others, storytelling, and the outdoors. After earning my B.A. in Psychology from Calvin University, I volunteered as a high school English teacher in a remote Tanzanian village. That experience deepened my commitment to education and led me to pursue a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Eventually, I found my way to beautiful Colorado.

Over the years, I’ve worn many hats: counselor in a residential treatment program, middle school volleyball and basketball coach, and now, college counselor and tutor. I’ve also worked in communications, helping nonprofits and individuals tell their stories in meaningful ways—skills I now bring into the essay-writing and application process with students.

I’ve continued to grow my expertise through coursework in Independent Educational Consulting at UC Irvine. My diverse background allows me to connect deeply with students, meet them where they are, and empower them to move forward with clarity and confidence. I care deeply about every student I work with, and it’s my greatest joy to see them thrive.
